2023 was a successful year for the club and on Saturday, we celebrated our year, awarding those with outstanding contributions...

PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Imran Qayyum
In his debut year for the club, Imran’s experience in higher leagues certainly came to the forefront. The all-rounder accumulated 422 runs in Division 2, striking at 81.47 including an unbeaten century (123*) against Brentham CC. He also picked up his fair share of wickets, taking 31 victims at an average of 23.58.

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Qudratullah Khiyal
Having joined the club not too long ago, the all-rounder has acclimatised well and has had one of the most successful years seen by a youngster at the club. He was our leading run-scorer across all competitions with 786 runs (averaging 32.75, striking at 102.56), with his champion performance coming in the U15 League in which he blitzed 83* off just 33 balls. Not forgetting his performances with the ball, as his nippy pace resulted in 32 dismissals across the season.

CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR - Samit Patel
The man behind the scenes who continues to allow this club to run successfully. We couldn’t list everything he does because the list is endless, but he takes care of absolutely everything from finances to arranging squash in the mornings, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have him as part of our club.

1XI PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Akshay Powale
The Mumbai top-order batsman was pivotal in the 1XI’s promotion into Division 1 of the MCCL. He was our top run scorer in the League and amassed 587 runs in Division 2, striking at 94.07 with an average of 48.92 per game. His best knock came against Eastcote CC at the Alan Digby Ground in which he scored 72 of just 29 balls!

2XI PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Kaushal Patel
Despite the mixed bag of results for our 2XI this season, it was the consistent performances from Karsh that inevitably managed to keep the 2’s safe this season. The wicketkeeper compiled 381 runs at an average of 38.10, including 5 red-inkers with his best performance coming against Wycombe House CC in which he scored 45* to take the boys home in a nail-biter!

3XI PLAYER OF THE YEAR & JUNIOR OF THE YEAR- Hem Shah
Youngster Hem finished the 2023 season as the 6th leading run-scorer across all formats for the club, scoring 477 runs across the 18 weeks. He represented the 3XI well in a tough Division 1 scoring 122 runs, with his best performance against Harrow Town CC where he anchored the first innings to lead the chaps to a competitive score of 238-8 off 47 overs.

4XI PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Devesh Kerai
In the 4XI’s unbeaten season, Dave showed plenty of promise with the ball as always, but had his stand out year for the club with the bat too! He took 33 wickets in the 2023 season (21 victims in the 4XI), taking an impressive 27% of the team wickets and showed his potential to open the batting more regularly as he totalled 141 runs in the League, with his finest performance against Stoke Newington CC in which he scored his maiden half-century (58*).
