The 1s hosted Highgate CC 1st XI and were keen to carry forward momentum from their thrilling win last week vs Bessborough. Bowling first after losing the toss, skipper Dylan Assani got the first breakthrough before Charles Erdwin, Hem Shah and Kalpesh Kerai ripped through the rest of the Highgate lineup to reduce them to just 134 all out on a decent deck. Charles ended with 3-57 from his 12 to back up his 4-fer last week, whilst Kalpesh bowled a tidy 7 overs for just 5 runs, taking 2 wickets. However, once again it was young gun Hem Shah who was the pick of the bowlers with 4-23 from 7.2 overs, taking him to 25 for the season and leaving him 3rd on the Division 2 leading wicket takers list. Dylan and the rest of the team will be happy that they were able to clean up the tail a lot easier this week. The chase was pretty straightforward, which is not something you associate with Kenton Cricket Club run chases. After Sajan Shah was removed for 23 (42), the man in red-hot form Viraj Patel with 67* (80) along with birthday boy Kalpesh Kerai with 43* (38) finished the job clinically, inside 27 overs. With his innings, Viraj moves back up to number 1 in the leading run scorers with 448 runs for Division 2, overtaking our very own Owen O-Neill-Khaled. Win by 9 wickets.

Enfield CC 2nd XI vs Kenton CC 2nd XI

The 2s travelled to Enfield CC 2s and were bowling first after stand-in skipper Dilan Wanniarachchi lost the toss. Ajmal Jabarkheil as always with the new ball put us on top with his 4-fer and Enfield were 44/5 early on. Ajmal ended up with figures of 4-40 in his 12 overs. A partnership of 99 that brough Enfield back into the game was then broken by Abhishek Jha before Kaushlendra Singh finished off the tail with a 4-fer, as he ended with 4-18. 136 all out were Enfield. A more typical Kenton chase here as we did not make it easy for ourselves. The boys found themselves in a spot of bother at 75/6 with only Rajiv Soneji’s start of 23 (68) the only notable runs from the top order but the 7th wicket partnership between Prithvi Nakrani and Jonny Rye swung the game in our favour. Rye top-scoring with an important 30 (39) and Prithvi with a counter-attacking 28 (23) before Abhishek and the Iceman, Mr all-rounder Ajmal, saw the boys home with the bat to complete an important victory for the 2s. Win by 2 wickets.

Hampstead CC 4th XI vs Kenton CC 3rd XI

The 3s travelled to Hampstead CC 4s and were bowling first after stand-in skipper Karsh Patel lost the toss. Roshan Madhaparia struck early, removing both openers cheaply, before debutant Devhm Parekh and youngster Zakirullah Khiyal spun a web around the rest of the Hampstead batting side, leaving them 193 all out. Devhm acclimatising to life at Kenton perfectly taking 4-53 in 17.5 overs and Zakirullah taking 3-85 in the 18 overs he bowled. The boys ended up settling for the winning draw thanks to Nihal Halai’s 58* (106), an innings that will give him a lot of confidence after a difficult first half of the season, and Zakirullah's 20* (42).

Kenton CC 4th XI vs Alexandra Park CC 3rd XI

The 4s hosted Alexandra Park 3s and were batting first after skipper Deepak Singh won the toss. This game saw 3rd XI legend Prishant Roy return to action after suffering an achilles injury, although the real star of the show is his daughter Maeva, one of the club's biggest fans. However, this innings was all about Danushka Lazarus who smashed a magnificent 128 (123). An innings that included 15 fours and 6 sixes. His 77-run 7th-wicket partnership with Rahil Patel (who only contributed 13 of that 77) took the boys up to 258, which looked like it could be a challenging score. Danushka had to tell Rahil off for running so many quick doubles in the belting heat while he was just able to run a single after batting for so long. Unfortunately APCC were in total control of the chase and despite Jaisals 2-fer, putting him to 2nd on the division 4B leading wicket takers list, the boys were defeated. Loss by 7 wickets. Big shoutout to the 1s who supported the 4s till the very end of the match, that's theproof of the huge family that we are here at Kenton!

Kenton CC CV XI vs Chorleywood CC CV XI

The CV side hosted Chorleywood CC looking to get their first win of the campaign. Skipper Hem Shah won the toss and we were batting first. Thanks to many contributions all across the batting order we made 306. 67*(58) for Puneet Pattni, 64(65) for Saif Butt and 59 (34) for Roshan Patel were important half-centuries that propelled us up to a challenging score. Shoutouts to Dilan Wanniarachchi for his 39 (46) opening up and skipper Hem Shah with 39 (44). With the ball, Pranav Shah, Prithvi Nakrani, Hem, Zakirullah Khiyal and Devhm Parekh all picked up 2-fers to bowl Chorleywood out for 211, sealing the 1st win of the CV season for the boys. Win by 95 runs.

Another good weekend for the boys with 3 wins and a winning draw across Saturday and Sunday. A really difficult TOTW for me to make, which is always a good thing, with many huge individual performances just missing out, go and visit the Instagram to see who made the cut??

30/44 points came home, hopefully football is home the next time I am writing one of these. It will mean that Viraj and Devesh Kerai will be singing their hearts out in the club bar again, and leave Mr Mark Giffin behind the bar with a raging headache?
