Kenton CC 1st XI vs Harrow CC 1st XI
The 1s hosted Harrow CC at home and were bowling first after skipper Dylan Assani won the toss. The boys knew they were in for a tough game knowing how strong the opposition's lineup was with names such as Devon Smith, ex-West Indies international. After a good start from Harrow, Dylan made the first in-road removing his namesake Dylan Rawal for 24. Charlie then got in on the acc as he picked up 2. The 1s made a good comeback through that man again Kalpesh Kerai (thankfully the froggy wasn’t working as I’m tired of posting highlights of this guy on socials) as he took 5-73 in 17.2 overs. Clearly a man on a mission! Hem got the big wicket of Smith and eventually they were 238ao in 52.5 overs. The chase never really got going as we were reduced to 31/5 and then 42/6 however one man stood tall, Schopun Jooma with 87 off just 68. However it wasn’t enough as he ran out of partners and the 1s were 135ao. Loss by 103 runs.

Kenton CC 2nd XI vs Stoke Newington CC 2nd XI
The 2s made the long journey to Hackney Marshes to take on Stoke Newington and were batting first. Yashil Kamdar deservedly received a batting promotion to number 4 and he made it count. 54 (99) on a very tricky surface, rotating strike magnificently, where many found it difficult to score. Tejpal Jadeja hit a quick 38* and Karsh chipped in with a valuable 20. Rosh gambled with a declaration at 176/6 in 52 but it paid off. Yashil the magic man with 5-36 in 13 overs. He was backed up by Tejpal, Prithvi Nakrani and young, 14 year old spinner Zakirullah Khiyal who was playing just his second game for the 2s helped bowl SNCC out for 144. Big 12 points for the 2s as they edge even closer to those promotion places with a win by 32 runs.

Kenton CC 3rd XI vs North London CC 3rd XI
The 3s hosted North London CC 3s in a top of the table clash as 1 played 2 in the table as both teams were separated by a solitary point. We were bowling first after skipper Jonny won the toss and Vishal Patel got us up and running before Utkarsh Sahu ripped through the NLCC batting line up with 9 wickets (yes, you read that right!) 9-46 in 17.2 overs, an amazing spell by Utkarsh who had the ball on a string for his whole spell, and NLCC were 201ao in 48.2. Onto the chase, and once again it did not go our way from the start. 2-2 became 83-7 after Dhanushka was out for 39. Eventually the 3s were 119ao despite some fight from the lower order. Loss by 82 runs, a dent in the 3s promotion push but the boys will be aiming to put things right in the remaining 4 games of the season.

Kenton CC 4th XI vs North London CC 4th XI
The 4s travelled to North London to take on their 4s and were batting first after losing the toss. Vraj Bhatt, who ended with 55, opening the batting, and Roshan Desai got us off to a flying start before both were dismissed. 96/1 became 102/4 quickly. Crucially in the middle overs, runs did start to dry up. As we became 179/8 it looked like a collapse was on the cards but a 9th wicket partnership of 57 from 52 balls from Pranav Shah and Rahil Patel helped us get up to a respectable 236/9 in 50 however with the way we started, on that deck, in glorious batting conditions with short boundaries and a rapid outfield we should have been closer to 300. Shoutout to Pranav who ended on 60 off 87 balls, bringing out the infamous Pranav Shah sweep on multiple occasions whilst pairing them with some glorious drives as well. Unfortunately, NLCC made light work of the chase as their number 3 hit a ton. Another shoutout has to go to 13 year old Niam Patel who made his Saturday league debut and was the best fielder on the ground for us. Loss by 7 wickets but the 4s will look to get some wins in the overs matches to save their season.

Unfortunately only 12 points this weekend coming from the 2s victory, plenty of learning curves but we will bounce back next week as the overs format returns!
