MCCL Weekly Round-Up: Gameweek 2 of the 2026 season

Rahil Patel17 Jun - 11:38

Here's how we fared in the second round of fixtures...

The 1s hosted Enfield 1s in a repeat of the final game of last season. Skipper Dylan Assani won the toss and we were fielding first. The bowling attack led by Cedric Mendes who took 4-47 in 8.3 overs restricted them to just 171. He was supported by Kalpesh Kerai's 2-17 as well as Charles Erdwin's 2-35. Viraj Patel opening the batting in his 100th 1s game with 55 (78) to anchor the chase and Owen O'Neill-Khaled with 54* (31) to seal the deal. Viraj hit 8 fours and 1 six whilst Owen hit 6 fours and 4 sixes to make it back to back half centuries. Win by 6 wickets. Big 10 points in the bag for the 1s.

Eastcote CC 3rd XI vs Kenton CC 3rd XI

The 3s travelled to Eastcote CC and did well to keep them to 217. Youngster Zakirullah Khiyal took 3-50 in 12 overs and Jameel Shah took 2-36 in 11 overs. A top order collapse including 3 wickets in 1 over, made the case difficult but Neel Patel with 41 (40) and Jonny Rye with 34 (66) dug in to bring us close but ultimately it wasn’t enough and we lost by 28 runs
