MCCL Weekly Round-Up: Gameweek 6 of the 2025 season

Here's how we went in the first weekend of timed games this season...

Kenton CC 1st XI vs Brentham CC 1st XI

The 1s hosted Brentham CC at the Alan Digby Ground. Skipper Dylan Assani lost the toss and we were bowling. Asif Mohamadi was on fire with the new ball. He got us up and running, removing both openers to leave Brentham 21/2. Brentham then managed to string a mini partnership before Utkarsh Sahu, Kalps Kerai and birthday boy Charlie Erdwin ran through the rest of the batting line up to have Brentham 152 all out. The chase was pretty simple, even after losing Schopun early, Abbas Ilyas set it up with his 38 while Kalps hit 87* and was supported by Akshay Powale to see the boys home comfortably by 8 wickets.

Kenton CC 2nd XI vs Wembley CC 2nd XI

The 2s travelled to Wembley and skipper Roshan Patel won the toss and elected to field first. Ajmal Jabarkheil bowled 17 overs up front and took 4-83, including a fantastic caught and bowled, however this did not stop Wembley getting to 281/7 in 55 overs. The chase wasn’t going to plan at 81/4 however up stepped Qudratullah Khiyal who hit a dazzling 117 off just 72 balls, his first for the club. 9 fours and 10 sixes. Some serious hitting from the youngster! Quad hit some huge sixes with some even landing in the tennis courts at Vale Farm! Nihal with 25 and then Roshan supported him with 48 to bring the boys so close however we didn’t manage to get over the line and secured a winning draw after finishing on 275/7 in 45 overs. A fantastic chase nonetheless.

Kenton CC 3rd XI vs Richmond CC 4th XI

The 3s hosted Richmond 4s on the bottom pitch at the Alan Digby Ground. Skipper Jonny Rye lost the toss and we were fielding. Jameel Shah and Prishant Roy were excellent again with the new ball as they have been over the course of the season so far. They ripped through the Richmond batting lineup and we had them 15/4 early on before they were all out for 88. The chase was relatively simple, Searan and Rajiv knocked off most of the runs before Jameel finished the job. Win by 6 wickets, top of the table and still unbeaten. Normal day at the office for the 3s.

Kenton CC 4th XI vs Chiswick CC 3rd XI

The 4s were away to Chiswick CC 3s. Stand in skipper Samit Patel won the toss and we were fielding. Up until drinks the pacers managed to contain the runs however after the batters got set it became difficult as there was nothing in the pitch for the bowlers and conditions were good for batting. Chiswick got to 248/8 before declaring after 47 overs. Abhishek Jha pick of the bowlers with 4-45 from 15 overs. The chase never really got going as we lost wickets at important intervals. Rishi Toor managed to get 50 which was just about the only positive from the chase however the 4s will be looking to return to winning ways next week.
