Rahil Patel23 Jun - 10:17

Here is how we went in the 7th round of fixtures...

Kenton CC 1st XI vs Eastcote CC 1st XI

The 1s travelled to Eastcote in a top of the table clash. Skipper Dylan won the toss and elected to field on a hot summers day. After he got us on the board, wickets started to fall at regular intervals and we were on top with Eastcote at 118/6. However, yet again the lower middle order started to build a partnership and runs began to flow. Eastcote got to 252/7 before declaring at the end of the 52nd over. Onto the chase and we were struggling early on at 36/3. Runs from Owen and Hem, 45 each, gave us some hope however once they fell we had to go for the draw. With 2 balls left in the game the final wicket fell, and we lost by 77 runs. A tough day out, many positives, but still all to play for and the boys will be looking to bounce back vs London Tigers next week.

Kenton CC 2nd XI vs Harrow St. Mary's CC 2nd XI

The 2s hosted at home. Skipper Rosh lost the toss and we were fielding. The bowlers stuck to their lines and length and after a decent opening partnership, Ajmal got the breakthrough. A run out from Utkarsh and a wicket from Qudratullah Khiyal meant they were 57/3 quickly. We then bowled them out for 133 thanks to a 5 wicket haul from Utkarsh who bowled fantastically, varying his deliveries keeping the batsmen guessing and having no answer. In reply, things didn’t go our way from the start and we were 83 all out. Loss by 50 runs. The boys will be back next week vs South Hampstead.

Kenton CC 3rd XI vs Highgate CC 3rd XI

The 3s travelled to Highgate CC to take on their 3s and were also bowling first after skipper Jonny lost the toss. With the new ball, Vishal and Prish made it tough for the Highgate batters to score. Zakirullah Khiyal then came on and took 4/52 as we had them 136/8 before again lower order runs helped them get to 212 in 50. Searan anchored the chase with 57 whilst Jonny hit 58 to get us close with 204/6 in 42 overs. Middle order innings from Chirag, Kaushlendra, Pranav and Vish also helped us earn a winning draw. 4 points in the bag and still top of the tree are the 3s, playing some magnificent cricket.

Kenton CC CV XI vs Graces CC CV XI
The CV side travelled to the magnificent Broxbourne Cricket Club to take on Graces CC and what a game it was. On a hot summer's day, skipper Hem won the toss and elected to bat. This match marked a special moment as U13 Niam Shah made his senior debut for the club. A monumental moment for him and his proud father Vishal Patel who got to play alongside his son for the first time ever. In his own words: "Kenton CC made my dreams come true." Onto the batting and fantastic centuries from skipper Hem and Puneet, their first for the club as they put on 211 for the 2nd wicket, as well as 44 from Toor and a quick fire 21 from Prits propelled us to 309/3 in 45. In defence, Graces batted well, however Prithvi’s neat spell of 2-34 (10), in tough bowling conditions with a lightning quick outfield, and Hem’s 2-30 (6) meant we were able to defend it. Win by 34 runs and top of the table are the CV side.

Not the greatest week for the club as only the 3s and CV XI managed to bring home points, however many positives and great individual performances to celebrate this weekend. Onto the next as we aim to bring back more points!
