Kenton vs Highgate
Result: Loss
Highgate posted 225/9 declared in 51 overs, and we were bowled out for 140 in 38.5 overs, losing by 85 runs
We won the toss and chose to field, trusting our bowling unit to give us a strong start. Highgate were made to work hard for every run. Utkarsh Sahu led the attack, bowling nineteen overs and claiming four wickets, while Prithvi Nakrani kept things incredibly tight in his six overs, picking up a wicket and conceding just twelve runs. Milind Kamdar and Ajmal Jabarkheil chipped in with important breakthroughs, and Cedric Mendes grabbed one as well. In the field we were sharp throughout: Waaris Deen, Roshan Patel, and Yashil Kamdar all held their chances, Nihal Halai produced a smart stumping, and Milind added a run-out. Even so, Highgate’s lower order managed to push them to 225 for nine before they declared in the fifty-first over.
Chasing 226, our reply started with promise. Nihal Halai looked solid for his 22, and Cedric Mendes counter-attacked brilliantly with 35 from just 25 balls, striking three boundaries and three sixes. At 67 for one we were well placed, but a collapse through the middle order left us reeling at 87 for seven. Milind and Yashil Kamdar offered resistance with a determined 32-run partnership for the eighth wicket, Milind contributing 18 and Yashil 29, but once that stand was broken we could not recover. We were eventually bowled out for 140 in the thirty-ninth over.
