Gameweek 17
Kenton 2nd XI produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat South Hampstead 2nd XI by 205 runs in a one-sided contest. After being asked to bat, Kenton piled on an imposing 331 for 6, built on contributions right through the order. Nihal Halai laid the foundation with a patient 50 from 87 balls, before Kaushal Patel’s fluent 82, including 12 fours and 2 sixes, pushed the innings into overdrive. Waaris Deen played a blistering hand, smashing 60 from just 33 balls with five boundaries and four sixes, while skipper Roshan Patel added further firepower with 47 off only 24 deliveries. Kenton finished with strong momentum heading into the second innings.
Defending such a massive total, Kenton’s bowlers were relentless, never allowing South Hampstead to settle. Wickets fell at regular intervals (Ankit Shah with 3-46), and the pressure proved too much for the visitors, who were restricted to just 126 for 6 in 27.4 overs. Backed by sharp fielding and disciplined lines, Kenton closed out a resounding victory on run rate due to heavy rain.
It was a complete team performance, with major batting contributions complemented by disciplined bowling and fielding. From the captain’s perspective, the side executed the game plan perfectly, with the balance of controlled accumulation, explosive acceleration, and clinical finishing setting up one of Kenton’s most emphatic wins of the season.
