Toss: Hornsey won the toss and elected to bat first.
Kenton having secured 12 points against second place north london, travelled to draw specialists Hornsey. Kenton lost the toss and Hornsey wanted first use of the pitch and elected to bat. With the heat and crumbling pitch, a wise decision. Kenton bowling effort was good to fair. The bowlers causing the batsmen issues but offering up a boundary ball an over. However, regular wickets were also taken to ensure Hornsey did not look set for a too big a score. However, some indifferent bowling at the death allowed Hornsey an extra 30 runs and they reached 189 in their 50 overs.
Kenton were to now set about the challenge of chasing this down in 42overs. Unfortunately, the innings never got going and at 50-4, it became a case of survival on a wearing pitch. Partnerships evolved, whilst not on score but in balls faced, and Kenton managed to salvage a draw with 1 wicket remaining. The game could have been a whole lot different if Hornsey had been braver and declared before the 50 over mark, or if Big bash player, Saskia Horley had decided not to play this week. Her calm and assured innings showed what could be achieve on such a track with patience and application. Kenton, whilst not ever looking like gaining victory, extended the unbeaten run to 6 games and up to second place in the table after North London lost back to back games.
