The Kenton boys were back at home this week playing against Twickenham 3s who are fighting for promotion. The boys knew it would be a tough game and knew they would have to perform well to get a result.
Twickenham won the toss and chose the bowl first on a pitch that appeared quite soft. Both Dippy and Devesh haven't had a big innings so far this season and the aim was to dig in and play out the new ball. Dippy batted really well punishing bad balls and keeping the scores ticking whereas Devesh looked to dig in however struggled to keep the scoreboard ticking. The opening partnership was unbeaten by drinks as Kenton were 74 without loss in 23 overs. After drinks, the boys looked to accelerate and Deveshs wicket fell shortly after. Dippy continued to bat well and was caught after making 56 with 103 runs in the scoreboard. Couple more quick wickets fell with Kenton 105-4. However Manoj Prasanga and Krunal Patel settled the ship with a partnership of 95 taking Kenton to 200. However both wickets of KP (50) and Manoj (46) fell and kenton saw themselves 207-6. The boys knew Twickenham would be a good batting side and decided to bat the full 50 overs which Kenton finished on 242-8 from 50 overs. Winning draw for Twickenham was 204.
Notable scores go to Dippy with 56, KP with 50 and Manoj with 46.
Kenton got a couple early wickets with Twickenham 30-2 and the game very much in the balance. Twickenham batted reallt well for their 3rd wicket partnership as they put on 106 runs at drinks. The game was very much in Twickenham's favour. However a bit of reverse swing from Raj Parmar blew the game wide open as Twickenham were 117-5. The Twickenham 6th wicket partnership looked to settle the ship before KP took a big 6th wicket for Kenton. However the 7th wicket partnership was a key one as they remained slightly above the winning draw rate and took the score to 195-7 in 38 overs. The aim now was to either take 3 wickets in 4 overs or restrict Twickenham to 9 runs in 4 overs. The boys tried their utmost best however Twickenham finished on 205-7 after their 42 overs meaning Kenton finished with 1 point. Very disappointing given the efforts from the boys but the boys look to bounce back against North London 4s which appears to be the biggest game of the season as we face another relegation contender.
