The 4s travelled to Perivale to take on top of the table Phoenicians. The boys were met with an interesting deck. Interesting because we couldn’t actually see the deck! The deck was the same colour as the outfield. KP decided which deck we should play on and we all stuck with it, knowing whichever deck we chose actually would make no difference. The Perivale players then came and put in the pitch markings as well as attempt to cut the grass. They brought a panel umpire with them too (their chairman). Skipper Samit won the toss and we were batting first. We were 11/0 however this became 11/3. Samit got a dodgy lbw but you can’t question with a panel umpire right? Roshan Desai and Rishi Toor put on a nice partnership to get us to 74 before Toor was run out on 24, a good throw from the fielder. Desai went on to make 39 before he was then caught. KP also got a dodgy lbw decision while Sahil Goswami hit one straight up and Sakith was bowled to a pee-roller. Raj Parmar and Rahil Patel tried to stick around for a bit knowing the rain was coming however Rahil was dismissed to a ball that just died on him and Raj was caught trying to get us some runs on the board. 111 all out however we knew it would be an interesting chase.

Onto the chase and it started with their opener coming out all guns blazing off the new ball pair of Rishabh Desai and Raj Parmar. Raj then removed him with an absolute seed that actually broke the bail! Raj then yorked the number 3 and took his middle stump before Devesh then got in on the act as their other opener nicked off to a great catch from Sahil at first slip and their skipper who was at number 4, trying to sweep Devesh, thinking he was a spinner. At 69/4 we believed we could win the game. Rain started to pour and conditions became unsafe. The panel umpire asked his team for balls to keep in his pocket so we wouldn’t waste time getting the match ball after it had been hit. With bowlers and fielders slipping about, we had no choice but to come off the field. Match abandoned.
